Halyrude RC Primary School has a long and proud tradition in the Peebles community. The school was founded 1865 and has been based in several locations in Peebles over its history.
The school is currently located on Rosetta Road in the building formerly occupied by Kingsland Primary School. The school has been refurbished to a very high standard and is now an excellent facility for the effective delivery of Curriculum for Excellence.
Our role is currently 81 and we have four classes:
P1/2 – 20 children P2/3/4 – 22 children P4/5 – 20 children P6/7 – 19 children
We also have a number of children joining us on a part time basis from other schools in Tweeddale as their learning is supported in the Tweeddale Support Centre.
We have an active Parent Council who provide excellent support for the school as well as a Pupil Council and Eco Committee. Since we moved into our new school building there has been extensive improvement work on our school garden extremely well supported by members of our local community and the bronze casting of our new school badge paid for by The Common Good Fund and made here in Peebles by Lomhar Maciver at Beltane Studios. The Eco Committee will be focussing on “cheering up” our new fence with some lovely planters and the Pupil Council is currently working on Rights Respecting Schools. We also have a Playground Group, Junior Road Safety officers and a Communication group. All children are actively involved in improving our school. .
We pride ourselves in being a vibrant learning community and our children take full advantage of the many and varied opportunities presented to us both in our school, in the outdoor learning environment, in the Peebles locality and beyond.
We hope to continue our proud tradition and enhance our standing in the community by dedicating our efforts to making Halyrude the best school it can possibly be.
